Lovi

The Finnish word “lovi” means a groove or notch, but to “fall into a lovi” refers to falling into ecstasy or generally taking a fancy to or becoming infatuated with something. In the Lovi chair, the user “falls into” the chair’s receptive, softly shaped interior, which is in stark contrast with the exterior’s geometric, prismatic form. A frame made of thin steel rods holds up the solid wood seat as if it were a bowl. The chair offers lightness in profile forming a powerful visual juxtaposition against the mass of the seat.
